DAN G. PAVEL, M.D.

Clinical Expertise, Education and Special Interests:

Dr. Pavel completed his Nuclear Medicine residency training at Northwestern University in Chicago in 1974 and the same year joined the University of Illinois Medical Center, Chicago. In 1977 he became Director of Nuclear Medicine and in 1982 the Professor of Radiology/Nuclear Medicine at the University of Illinois Medical Center, Chicago.

In 1996 completed a 1 year Sabbatical at the Laboratory of Neurosciences of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland and, upon return, became Assistant Department Head for Information Systems in the Department of Radiology.

With over 30 years of experience in Academic Nuclear Medicine, Dr. Pavel has a special interest in computer processing of functional imaging and has concentrated on Brain SPECT imaging since 1993. At the NIH he studied modalities of image processing of functional Brain images. In 2005 he became the full time Director of “PathFinder Brain SPECT Imaging” at The Neuroscience Center in Deerfield, IL where he is involved in the diagnostic evaluation of patients with complex neuropsychiatric disorders.
